Busta4 & Euro

A trailer should not be used when it is not recognised by the towing vehicle or when the trailers LEDs are pulsing

Trailer Recognition when a trailer has been recognised by the vehicle’s Body Computer the Trailer Tell Tale will be enabled with the operation of the turn signals, this is a legal requirement in many jurisdictions. When the Body Computer recognises that there is a trailer connected it will communicate the trailer recognition to the following vehicle computers so that:

Anti-Lock Brakes, Stability, Traction Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection and Lane Change Assist etc. When in motion alternate strategies can be applied to control the dynamics of the vehicle/trailer combination and the information sent to the driver.

Power Train Control alternate strategies can be applied to engine fuelling, throttle response, automatic transmission shift points, enhanced dynamic engine braking, etc.

Suspension at highway speeds automatic changes to ride height is disabled to reduce the possibility of directional instability during lane changing and cornering.

Vehicle rear lighting the vehicle’s rear fog and reversing lights will be disabled in order to eliminate reflected glare from the front of the trailer.

Trailer lighting any turn signals, park and brake LEDs on the trailer that were continuously pulsing ( illegal ) will no longer do so.

Parking sensors the rear parking aid sensors are disabled. Note: not all makes and models of vehicles have all of the above computers/functions/features.

The NEW PulseBusta Mk4 and PulseBusta Euro

The PulseBusta Mk4 is designed for all 12 volt negative earth vehicles, known to LAB Electronics at the time of writing, that are built to E/ECE/324 -E/ECE/TRANS/505 regulations and are connected to trailers having one park/licence plate lighting circuit and turn signal monitoring is not required.

The PulseBusta Euro is designed for all 12 volt negative earth vehicles, known to LAB Electronics at the time of writing, that are built to E/ECE/324 – E/ECE/TRANS/505 regulations and are connected to trailers having two park/licence plate lighting circuits and turn signal monitoring is required.

The PulseBusta Mk4 and PulseBusta Euro are both of a new design using 'state of the art' 21st century solid-state electronics and production methods. By using the latest technologies in manufacturing the production the costs and many hours of assembly time have been reduced which means that the PulseBusta Mk4 is about 15% less than the previous MK3 version. The PulseBusta Euro with its extra monitoring circuitry is only slightly more expensive.

Before ordering – Please check with your vehicle manufacturer, to find out, if your vehicle has the capability of monitoring a trailers brake and/or park LEDs for lamp failure. If you cannot get the information from the manufacturer you can connect a trailer with LEDs and start the engine. Turn on the park lights, operate the brake lights and see if you get any lamp failure warnings for the trailer. As the lamp check modules in most vehicles do not have this functionality the internal load resistors in the PulseBusta Mk4 and Euro, for the park and brake light circuits have been fitted but are not connected. If your tow vehicle does have monitoring functionality of the trailers, brake and/or park LEDs please advise us when you order, and the appropriate load resistors will be connected before dispatch. Future proof: If you change tow vehicles in the future and your new tow vehicle does have this functionality the required the load resistors can be connected later. Instructions for doing this are at the end of each of the DIY instruction sections. If you do have a vehicle that requires these load resistors to be connected, please advise us of the make, model and year so that a database can be compiled.

Special orders – Should a PulseBusta Mk4 be required with turn signal monitoring please contact LAB Electronics before ordering. In addition to the 'before ordering' information above you will have to decide how to power the monitoring circuitry inside the unit. The choices are: 1. When a trailer is connected, you will always have to drive with the park lights turned on, as the power for the monitoring circuitry will be taken from the park light circuit inside of the PulseBusta Mk4. 2. The black wire in the trailer cable can be used to power the monitoring circuitry if it is not being used for another purpose. For this option you would also need to have the vehicle trailer socket re-wired so that ignition on power was supplied to that pin in the trailer socket.

All PulseBusta units are manufactured use quality components and the latest manufacturing techniques. They are assembled by hand in my workshop taking all care and diligence. They are sealed against the ingress of water and dust to exceed the IP- 68 rating by using silicone sealant between the end plates and body, nut and end plates, to the screw heads of the end plates and on both the internal and external ends of the trailer cables. When making adaptors the wire ends are fitted with metal ferrules (not soldered or bare wires as these tend to loosen with time and cause problems) and all screw connections are twice tightened for long-term security.
